Maria Hyppolite is an experienced artist born in Bourdon, Port-au-Prince with a background of the city of Jacmel, which is located in the South East coast of Haiti.
Maria Hyppolite is a Haitian painter who focuses her art on abstract themes.The artist started to experiment with different painting styles, starting with still life art depicting fruits, flowers and vegetables and progressed to surrealism. Her early artwork consists of oil paintings and oil pastels with lush colors and soulful themes. She continued her self-teaching process of learning to create art paintings using acrylic paint in 2002. She even experimented with paint on plates made of clay. Her art can be found, hanged up on the walls of the Haitian Art Museum, P.A. Haiti. In 1993 she was able to sell her first few paintings, which encouraged her in her pursuit of art as a career. the artist continues to paint part time from home. Her abstract paintings come from the heart... expressing emotion as a visual language, using pure color and expressive marks to connect and communicate.
